PTA: Library

Need Reading Ideas for the Kids?
Our Librarian, Ms. Hammond, has some fabulous recommendations for anytime reading.

Library provides students with skill in acquiring information, appreciation of literature, and the resources to gain knowledge. Our librarian makes the library a special place to visit with great recommendations on books and captivating book reading/story telling. All Montclair students visit the library weekly. Teachers also schedule special project visits for more lengthy library-based work.

The lower grades begin their library time with a story read by our beloved longtime librarian. After discussing the story, the children have an opportunity to explore the library and check out books. The older grades learn how the library is organized, and hone their skills using reference books and online sources; research projects are developed collaboratively by the librarian and the upper grade teachers.

The library offers approximately 12,000 print and AV resources, as well as a number of online research tools: OUSD Library Resources.

All funding for new books comes from the fall and spring book fairs, PTA funds, and generous annual contributions.

Many thanks to the team of parent volunteers who help shelve and check out books each week! If you would like to volunteer, please contact the school office.
